# Invite people to your organization

Invite people to your Revis organization by email from **Organization settings** > **Members**. Everyone you invite joins as a **Member**, and you can add them to one project with a [project role](/admin/understand-roles-and-permissions) at the same time. Until someone accepts, you can resend or revoke their invitation.

::: info Before you start

* **Who:** organization Owners and Admins. Other members see **Invite** too, but revis.io refuses their invitations unless they choose a project where they're a Project Admin. Project Admins can also invite from their project's **Members** settings: see [Add people and teams to a project](/admin/add-people-and-teams-to-a-project).
* **Where:** the web app.
* **You need:** the email addresses of the people you're inviting.
  :::

## Send invitations

1. Select your organization's icon at the top of the sidebar, then select the gear next to its name (**Organization settings**).
2. Select **Members**, then select **Invite** at the top right. The **Invite by Email** dialog opens.
3. Enter the addresses in **Email Addresses**, separated by commas, spaces, or new lines, or paste a list from your mail app. Under the box, revis.io counts them ("2 valid emails") and lists any it can't read after "invalid:" (or "Not added (invalid format):" for a pasted list).
4. To add everyone to a project too, choose it in **Project (optional)**. **Send Invitations** stays unavailable until you also choose a role.
5. If you chose a project, choose a **Project Role**. The list offers roles up to your own on that project.
6. If you like, add a note in **Message (optional)**: up to 500 characters, with no links or web addresses.
7. Select **Send Invitations**.

revis.io confirms with a message such as "2 invitations sent" and lists the invitations under **Invites**. If an address fails, revis.io says why and keeps only the failed addresses in the dialog: see [An invitation won't send or can't be resent](/troubleshooting/organisation-invitation-wont-send).

Some organizations' invitation emails leave the message out, for example new organizations and trials. The person then sees your message only if they open the invitation link while signed out.

## What happens next

* Each person gets an email whose link opens **Team Invitation**. They select **Sign In to Accept**, or **Create Account** if they're new to revis.io. If they're already signed in, opening the link accepts the invitation straight away.
* Once they accept, they're a **Member** of the organization and, if you chose a project, have the project role you picked there. To give them another organization role, see [Change roles or remove members](/admin/change-roles-and-remove-members).
* revis.io doesn't email people who are already in your organization. With a project chosen, it adds them to the project straight away ("1 member added to the project"); without one, it says they're already a member.

## Resend or revoke a pending invitation

Pending invitations are listed under **Invites**, above the members list, with any project and role, and the dates each was sent and expires.

* **Resend:** select **Resend invitation** (the circular arrow) on the row. The expiry date stays the same, and revis.io limits how soon and how often you can resend.
* **Revoke:** select **Revoke invitation** (the trash can) on the row. It's revoked at once, with no confirmation, and the person can't join with it anymore. You can invite the address again.

An invitation whose expiry date has passed stays in the list but can't be resent: revoke it, then invite the person again.
