Add a watermark to images

Add a watermark to images

A watermark puts text, such as your organization's name, or a logo over the images people view in Revis. It applies to images uploaded after you turn it on, in your whole organization. Videos and PDFs aren't watermarked.

Before you start

  • Who: organization Owners and Admins.
  • Where: the web app.

Turn on the watermark

Add a watermark to images
  1. Select your organization's icon at the top of the sidebar, then the gear next to its name (Organization settings).
  2. Select Watermarks and turn on Enable Watermarks.
  3. In Watermark Text, enter up to 200 characters. Select {{org_name}} under the box to insert your organization's name.
  4. Under Appearance, choose a Position: one of nine spots, Diagonal (the default), or Tiled. Adjust Font Size, Opacity, Text Color, Stroke Color, and Stroke Opacity if you like.
  5. Check that Images is ticked under Apply To.
  6. Select Save Changes.
  1. Under Logo Watermark, select the empty square and choose a PNG file up to 5 MB and 2048 × 2048 px. A transparent background works best.
  2. Set its size with Logo Scale.
  3. Select Save Changes.

The logo always goes in the bottom-right corner, wherever you put the text.

Preview the watermark

Select Generate Preview under Preview. revis.io shows the watermark on a sample image, using your settings as they are now, so you don't need to save first. A logo you've just chosen appears in the preview only after you save.

What gets watermarked

  • New images only: the copies revis.io makes to display an image, and its thumbnails, carry the watermark. Images uploaded before you turned it on keep their copies without one.
  • Originals stay untouched: Download Original gives the file as it was uploaded, with no watermark. To stop people downloading originals, turn off Original Item File under Downloads.
  • Your settings change later images: after you edit the watermark, images uploaded from then on use the new one.
