An upload stopped, vanished, or failed
Most upload problems come from a file revis.io doesn't accept, a tab closed during the upload, or a file that uploaded but couldn't be processed. Find the message or symptom you see below.
Before you start
- Who: anyone who uploads files: the organization's Owners, Admins, and Members, and the project's Project Admins and Contributors.
- Where: the web app.
"Unsupported file format"
Why it happens: the file's format isn't one revis.io supports, for example FBX, OBJ, USDZ, MXF, or EXR. When you pick or drop such a file, a warning appears at the top right of the window for about 8 seconds. It names up to three refused files and their formats, then "and N more", and lists the supported formats. revis.io doesn't upload those files; the other files in the upload still go ahead.
What to do: convert the file to a supported format, such as MP4 or MOV for video, PNG or TIFF for images, or GLB for 3D models. Then upload it again.
"File too large"
Why it happens: the file is over the 10 GB limit. The message names the file, its size, and the limit.
What to do: export a smaller file, for example with more compression or a lower resolution, or split it into parts. Then upload it again.
The upload stopped when you closed or reloaded the tab
Why it happens: uploads run in the browser tab you started them in. revis.io asks you to confirm before the tab closes or reloads, but if you leave anyway, the upload stops and can't resume.
What to do:
- Upload the file again.
- If the review still shows a tile for the stopped upload, stuck on Processing..., right-click it and select Remove. Only Owners, Admins, and Project Admins see Remove; if you don't, ask one of them.
"Upload failed:" and the file's name
Why it happens: the upload didn't finish, for example because the connection dropped or revis.io refused the file. The file leaves the Uploads list. The message underneath gives the reason, for example "Uploads are disabled for this organization".
What to do: upload the file again; there's no retry button. If the message is "Failed to get presigned URL (422)", shorten the file's name and remove any .. from it, then upload it again.
"Uploads disabled"
Why it happens: an admin has turned off media uploads for your organization.
What to do: ask an organization admin to turn on Allow media uploads in Organization Settings > Uploads.
The item shows a red overlay after it uploaded
Why it happens: the file uploaded, but revis.io couldn't process it for playback. Point to the overlay to read the reason, for example "This file is too large to process." or "This file's media information looks invalid or corrupted, so it couldn't be processed. Try re-exporting the file."
What to do: fix what the reason describes, usually by exporting the file again, then upload the new file. There's no retry for processing.
