Open a review someone shared with you
A share link opens a Revis review in your browser. You don't need a Revis account. Depending on how the sender set up the link, you might enter a password or confirm your email address first.
Before you start
- Who: anyone with the link.
- Where: a web browser.
- You need: the link, and the password if the sender set one. The password never comes in revis.io's email; the sender gives it to you separately.
Open the link
- Open the link you were sent. In an email from revis.io, select Open review.
- If you see Password Required, enter the password and select Continue. revis.io asks for it each time you open the link.
- If you see Confirm your email, enter your name and email address and select Send code.
- Enter the 6-digit code from the email revis.io sends you.
The review opens in the player. Many links skip steps 2 to 4 and open the review straight away.
Confirm your email
- The code works for 15 minutes, and you have three tries. After that, select Resend code for a new one. You can request three codes in 15 minutes.
- If no email arrives, check your spam folder, then select Resend code when the countdown ends. To fix the address, select Wrong email? Go back.
- Your browser remembers you for 90 days. Next time you go straight in, or select Continue as with your name and email.
Some links let you watch first, and ask you to confirm your email only when you comment, draw, change a status, or send a chat message. Others require a Revis account to take part: open Notes and select Sign in to revis.io to comment. to sign in and return to the review.
If you have a revis.io account
If you're signed in and you're a member of the review's project, the link opens the review with your usual access. You skip the password and the email check, even if the link has expired or was turned off.
Transcript
If you're signed in and you're a member of the review's project, the link opens the review with your usual access.
If you're signed in but not a member of that project, you see the review as a guest. You still enter the password, but you don't need to confirm your email.
If the link doesn't open
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Share link not found" | Check that you have the whole link. If you do, the sender turned it off or replaced it: ask them for a new one. |
| "Share has expired" | Ask the sender to extend the link or send a new one. |
| "Share is no longer active" | The review, its project, or its organization was deleted. Ask the sender. |
| "Link sharing is turned off for this project" | An admin turned off link sharing. Ask the sender. |
| "This link needs a password before it can be used. Ask the person who shared it to add one." | Ask the sender for a new link. |
| "Invalid password" | Check the password with the sender. After five wrong tries, you see "Too many attempts. Please try again later." Wait a minute, then try again. |
| Failed to Load Review, with a message that starts "Access denied" | The review is only available from certain countries or networks, and your location isn't one of them or couldn't be found. Ask the sender. |
| "Too many requests. Please wait a few minutes and try again." | You asked for too many codes. Wait a few minutes, then select Resend code. |
| "Failed to load share link" | Wait a minute, then open the link again. |
| "Your browser blocked the cookie needed to remember you — open this link directly in a new tab." | Paste the link into a new browser tab. |
If the sender turns the link off or deletes it while you're watching, you're taken to the sign-in page, which says "This review is no longer shared with you. Ask the person who shared it for a new link, or sign in if you have an account."
TIP
Keep the link you were sent and use it every time. Other addresses for the same review, such as one a project member copies from revis.io, open only for project members and in browsers that already opened the share link.
