Open a review and preview its items

Updated Oct 11, 2026

Open a review and preview its items

Open a review from your project's Reviews page. Expand it to see its items, press Space for a quick look, or select the play button to open it in the player, where comments and item details sit next to the media.

Before you start

Expand a review

  1. Open the project and select Reviews in the left sidebar.
  2. Select a review's name to expand it. Its items appear below the row. You can expand several reviews at once.

Each row shows the review's status and how many items it holds. Point to the row for more buttons, such as Open notes reel (every comment in the review in one list) and the three-dot menu. Which ones you get depends on your role and the window's width; on a narrow window, right-click the row instead.

Here's the way into a review: a quick peek at its shots, then a seat in the player. Your project's reviews live on the Reviews page. Select a review's name to expand it, and its items appear below the row.

Each row shows the review's status and how many items it holds. You can expand several reviews at once. Let's start with the forest shot.

Select it in the expanded review. Press Space, and Quick Preview opens right over the page. The left and right arrow keys move between items, so here's the barbecue shot.

Press G to switch between a single item and a grid of them all. Press Esc to close it. Time to open the player.

Select the play button at the right end of the review's row. If the playlist on the left is hidden, select Show playlist. Pointing to the left edge shows the items too.

Select any item in the playlist to play it, like the campsite shot. On the right edge, Notes holds the comments on this shot. Activity lists what happened to it.

Details has the item's description, plus chapters and a transcript when it includes them. Metadata shows the technical information, like resolution and frame rate. Up top sits the item's name.

Point to it for Item actions. Next come the review's status, Share, the notes reel and Chat. Now you can find any shot in a review, and you know where its notes and details live.

Preview items without opening the player

  1. In an expanded review, select the item you want to start with.
  2. Press Space. Quick Preview opens over the page.
  3. Press Esc to close it.

While Quick Preview is open:

  • The left and right arrow keys move between items.
  • A fits the item to the window, and 1 shows it at 100%.
  • G switches between a grid of the items and a single item.
  • Space plays and pauses a video.

Open the review in the player

  1. Select the play button at the right end of the review's row.
  2. If the playlist on the left is hidden, select Show playlist, or point to the left edge to see the items.
  3. Select an item in the playlist to play it.

To open the review in a new browser tab, hold ⌘ (Ctrl on Windows and Linux) while you select the play button. To start at a particular item, double-click that item in the expanded review. Double-clicking an item's name renames it instead.

Find your way around the player

  • Notes, Activity, Details, and Metadata, on the right edge:
    • Notes holds the comments on the current item. revis.io calls comments "notes" in some places.
    • Activity lists what happened to the current item.
    • Details shows the item's description, plus chapters and a transcript when the item includes them. Select a chapter to jump to it.
    • Metadata shows the item's technical information, such as its resolution, frame rate, duration, and file size.
  • At the top: the item's name, with Item actions next to it when you point to it, then the review's status, Share, the notes reel, and Chat.
  • Hide playlist, at the top of the playlist, gives the media more room.

If someone sends you a link to a comment, the review opens at that comment's frame. Open Notes to read the comment.
