Add people and teams to a project

Updated Oct 12, 2026

Add people and teams to a project

Give people in your organization a role on a project from the project's Members page. You can add people, add a whole team, invite people by email, or accept a request from someone who asked to join.

Before you start

  • Who: organization Owners and Admins, and the project's Project Admins. You can give roles up to your own level on the project.
  • Where: the web app.
  • You need: for People and Teams, people who are already in your organization. Owners and Admins create teams in Organization settings > Teams.

Add people or teams

  1. Open the project and select the gear next to its name at the top of the page (Project settings).
  2. Select Members, then Add members. The Add or Invite Members to Project dialog opens.
  3. Choose a Role for everyone you're adding. It starts at Reviewer.
  4. On People, select the people to add. On Teams, select the teams.
  5. Select the Add button, which shows how many you selected (for example, Add 2).

A team's role applies to everyone in the team and lets them open the project even when it's Private or Discoverable. Teams are listed above the members. The members list shows only people you added directly.

Invite people by email

  1. In the Add or Invite Members to Project dialog, select Invite, then choose a Role.
  2. Enter one or more addresses in Email Addresses, separated by commas, spaces, or new lines.
  3. Add a Message (optional) if you like.
  4. Select Send invitations.

People who are already in your organization join the project straight away. Everyone else gets an email inviting them to the organization, as a Member, and to the project with the role you chose.

Accept or decline requests to join

People in your organization can ask to join a Discoverable project. While a request is waiting, it appears under Access requests on the project's Members page, with the requested role and the date.

  1. Open the project and select the gear next to its name at the top of the page (Project settings).
  2. Select Members.
  3. Under Access requests, select Accept or Decline.

Accept adds the person with the role in the request (Viewer for requests from Browse Projects) and shows "Access granted". Change their role afterward if they need to comment or upload.

Who gets emailed about requests

  • Each Project Admin added directly to the project (not through a team) gets an email, "name asked to join project", with a Review access requests button that opens the Members page.
  • If there's no such Project Admin, the organization's Owner and Admins get it instead.
  • To stop these emails, open the user menu (your avatar), select Preferences > Notifications, and turn off Email for Membership. Your email app's unsubscribe option works too.
  • Each admin gets at most two of these emails a day about the same person and project. The request always reaches the Access requests list.
